Margazhi directed by Akshay Sunder is about teenage love. Jasmine is still coping with the bitter separation of her parents. After the divorce, she became a gloomy recluse. Soon a new tenant in their lane changes her for the better. Will he help Jasmine smile again? Restore her faith in love?
Paravai Kootil Vaazhum Maangal is directed by Bharathiraja. When Kishor meets Vijaylakshmi in the metro, their connection is palpable. But a married Kishore is treading dangerous waters when both he and Vijaylakshmi cannot control their feelings for each other. But when his wife gets to know of it, the most unnatural discussions follow.
Ninavo Oru Paravai is directed by Thiagararaja Kumararaja. Sam and K have been in a thunderous relationship. Sadly that relationship comes to an end. But when K is in an accident and loses all his recent memories, a troubled Sam takes it upon her to recreate those memories for K.
Cast Performances
All the actors have been cast perfectly for their roles. Sri Gouri Priya as Shobha is delightful. TJ Banu as Devi in Imaigal is astounding and Ashok Selvan ably supports her. Even though she plays a character that's losing her vision, she remains the most emotive part about her. Ramya Nambeesan is a revelation as a forgiving and smart wife. Wamiqa Gabi, PK, Ritu Varma, and Sanjula Sarathi add their precious talent to an already talented bunch.
Overall Remarks
In these 6 episodes, certain stories stand out more than others. These stories break all the conventions of what a relationship should look like, choosing happiness, maturity, and deep love over pettiness, being selfish, and society's rules. Even though the title suggests that these life-changing stories take place in Chennai, the city has not been given its due importance. While we expect the city to weave itself into these tales, the characters could have lived anywhere and had the same outcomes. Ilayaraja's music provides magic where the storyline falters. But Modern Love Chennai is that hot chicken soup that you are ready to consume in this scorching heat too!
